We developed the agricultural management application, available on iOS, Android and the web, to make farmers’ everyday administration simpler and more transparent. The system provides a single platform for recording farming activities, managing important data and tracking workflows.
Users can record cultivation-related events for each farming area and crop, ensuring that all important information is kept up to date and can be retrieved easily. The mobile application allows data to be recorded directly in the field, while the web interface provides comprehensive administration and reporting capabilities.
Key features
- Centralised data management and synchronization.
- Creation of observation area–crop pairs using automatic geolocation.
- Daily entry of data for a specific area and crop hybrid in a calendar. Activities that can be recorded include irrigation, field work, nutrient application, crop protection, and pests/pathogens.
- Export of logged data for each area–crop pair in CSV format to the user’s own or another specified e-mail address.
- Continuous monitoring of meteorological data for farming areas (soil temperature and precipitation) through integration with external agrometeorological services.
- Automatic pest alerts and rapeseed flowering notifications: warning messages about the possible appearance of pests in the farming area.
- Offline operation: when the device reconnects to the internet, data recorded while offline are synchronised automatically.
Technical challenges of the project
- Initially, a single application covered seven countries, each with different regional settings and different agrometeorological service providers. The Hungarian-language application was later redesigned as a separated app.
- A simple, user-friendly interface despite the large number of activities and data types that can be recorded.
- Displaying data in informative, easy-to-understand charts.
- Pest alert management: different calculation formulas by country and by pest.
